PROLOGUE
CHAPTER ONE
PROLOGUE

Splish, splash, splish, splash.
The sounds of the rain startled the small baby as she laid in her basket, deep in the depths of the alley dumpsters. Her crying was drowned out by the rain above her, hitting her face ever so slightly from the crack in the lids. No thoughts in her brain, all she could do was exhaust herself with her wailing. She needed someone to come quickly, as the sun was starting to set. She missed her long lost brother. She knew he was out there somewhere.
“Father. I have returned from my foraging…Look in here,” a voice said, coming closer and closer to the dumpster.
Another voice appeared from behind, ushering the child behind him as he vaulted himself up and propped up his arms on the rim of the dumpster. There, behind the lid, he found a young baby looking up at him with hopeful eyes, red from crying with nothing but a basket to keep her warm. He gasps.
“What the heck?!” He says, looking back at the young girl behind him. She shrugged.
“Can we keep it?” She says, hopeful.
“Yes… we shall raise it to be our next hellspawn.” He smiles. “Zac Efron will be happy to hear the news.”
He brings himself closer to the basket, hauling it up like fish in a net. He tosses it to the little girl, who briefly trips as she catches the baby in her 3 year old chubby toddler arms. The girl looks at the baby, who had stopped crying in the last 5 minutes that they’ve been discussing the adoption of the baby.
“Interesting…” The man says, “Maybe I will adopt 3 more after this… What do you think, Moza?” He pats her on the back as she holds the basket closer.
“Sounds good!” She giggles.
They swiftly exit the premises, not wanting to explain the basket baby they found in a dumpster, taking her to their lair in hopes she is not sick from the rain. They couldn’t keep calling her “the dumpster child” or “the basket baby”, they must give her a name, shouldn’t they? Slowly, they agreed on a fine name for this dumpster child.
“Let’s call her Kitty!”

It was a fine day in the Donkey residence as a myriad of little children scurry around the lair. After finding the dumpster child, the man known as Wally had adopted 3 other children. The first of which, being a little girl named Twiggy, who was an angel but had a very mischievous side to her. The second, being initiated later on with a bunch of movies, named Wah, who somehow made her way into the family despite the complete opposite of every one of his children. And lastly, in attempts to steal Wally’s power, Spam was adopted into the family as well. Some children came and went, but these five stuck together ever since. Some may call them the demon children. They couldn’t be contained. No matter how many babysitters they went through. The last babysitter ran away in horror after young Kitty had blabbed about the Sonic lore and Spam had written fanfiction about it and showed it to her. She couldn’t take much afterwards. She threatened to take Wah with her, making her miss most of our movie nights. Twiggy sat and scribbled her little evil plans on paper, looking up at the mess while taking her pet named Francis in the closet.
“Honestly, I am disappointed that this babysitter couldn’t handle you guys. But also, in a way, it made me chuckle.” Wally sighed, putting a hand to his forehead.
Moza comes out behind Wally, laughing at the mess the younger ones made. She runs towards the toddlers, helping them scatter more papers around the room.
“Now… where am I gonna find a new babysitter?” He asks himself as the rest of the demons run around.
Suddenly, the kids could hear a banging coming from the hidden door. Kitty jumped and picked up Wah as defence, while Twiggy hid behind Wally. Spam and Moza ran up towards the door and started smacking back in attempts to intimidate the one behind. The knocking persisted until Wally opened the peeping hole to see who was behind the door.
“HELLO? ANYONE THERE?” The woman screamed, trying to get the attention of the people inside. “I SAW YOUR BABYSITTING AD ON THE POLE OUTSIDE! I WANT TO TAKE IT!”
“Wait a second…” Wally thinks. I know that voice! He falls to the ground in horror. The prophecy was right…She has returned!
“Wally Donkey, I know you are in there! Please open the door!” She groans in impatience.
“Okay, Vic… I’m opening the door. Sheesh.” He fumbles around with a couple buttons and removes some of the security devices, including the swinging axe just a couple inches behind her. He was tempted to leave the axe running, but he promised Fenric that he would not attempt murder upon his wife again.
“I was wondering when you’d let me in! Wow… last time we saw each other you only had one of those,” she gestured at the four other children she hadn't met before, some a little more feral than the others. She thought the one holding the other toddler might have some sort of rabies.
“Yeah… some stuff happened and now I have multiple children. It’s kind of hard, while Zac Efron is out performing in some movies I’ve had to take care of these kids all this time. Hard to work on my nefarious deeds while one of them is screaming bloody murder and the rest of them are sugar induced. It’s nice that two of them are at least a little bit silent.”
Twiggy grapples onto his leg and climbs him like a tree, hanging onto his hair like the rat from Ratatouille… or maybe it was a racoon? The boy jumps back and forth in front of Vic in hopes of intimidating her before he uses his interesting tactics to scare her off. The youngest cries while the feral child lets her down and joins Spam in his frightening ritual.
“What the heck are those…” Vic says, a little shocked at what she’s seeing.
“I don’t know but I take care of them anyway. Sometimes in hopes that they will compete against each other for my love, but it doesn’t seem to happen anyway.” He shrugs.
“So… am I just your new babysitter now?”
“Well yeah… I kind of went through 10 in the past month. I don’t even know where half of them went. One of them stole a supply of oranges on the way out.”
“Oh. Cool! Okay.” She says happily, letting herself inside the house to greet the children.
“WOWEE!! We want ice cream!” Moza jumps, running towards Vic.
“ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM! ICE CREAM!” The rest of the children chanted, laughing and holding onto Vic’s leg.
“I want chicken nuggets too…” Kitty says, stomach rumbling.
“Just take this spare cash and take these kids out please. I need some silence in my life. Make sure they don’t kill anyone! And keep them from eating the frozen chicken nuggets, please.” He says, pushing everyone outside.
An ensemble of goodbyes and laughs filled the air, the rest of the kids running off past Vic. She was gonna have an interesting time… at the very least.
