Your analogy isn't exactly accurate; your order wasn't changed on arrival, it was updated many years later, and after you'd been able to wear your shirt with a red heart on it as much as you want. The changes to ranks are overall relatively minor, considering how long it has been and how much the game and CV has changed.

I'm not going to argue here about the EULA, we've been doing so for many years and it is up to the server management, not individual players, to understand and apply the rules to the server to keep us out of trouble.

No refunds are being offered, because nothing is being removed and, even if they were, people have had full use of the ranks for many years so it is a bit disingenuous to argue for a refund. The ranks have changed a little, but they're still there and you can still use them. I'm fairly sure you would have trouble returning any shirt to a store after you've been wearing it for 5+ years ;)
Yeah, right. I’d like to hear from the owner of this server on this topic as it is above staff’s pay grade. ;)

Winky face. ;);)

Btw, if nothing is being removed, then why was a lot removed? Huh?
You are more than welcome to try getting in touch with Inutterable. I might suggest being somewhat less rude when you message him if you want to get a reply though. Good luck!
Don’t talk to me about rude. Lol. Xx ;) Reach out to me next time you spend $700+ on this server, k?

Edit: I also want to add, Cubeville wouldn’t be here right now if it weren’t for people like Tis, me, many others who contributed money to keep the server running. You may not remember, but there was talk about not being able to continue with the fees and expenses and money it costs to keep this server running. I think a certain level of respect has been more than earned.

Respect was not earned, ranks were purchased. You can't say you didn't get anything for your money, it was not a charitable contribution (unlike those of us who have been patrons of Cubeville since ranks were no longer available, still paying money monthly to maintain the server for many years). There is also a certain level of respect due to members of staff who have devoted thousands of hours to maintain and improve Cubeville over the years which also seems to be being ignored, so I guess neither of us are satisfied with this conversation. Therefore I suggest that you contact Inutterable and speak to him about your concerns. Any other issues can be raised through appropriate channels.

I'd like to add a few points here, as well. I understand your frustration, I lost my donator ranks on my first Minecraft server, although in their case they made 0 attempt to explain, maintain, or make up for anything. My ranks were not updated to keep them relevant or working, they were just dropped with a change in administration. I would like to point out that we have done all of the aforementioned though in our best effort to show respect to both players who previously purchased ranks as well our current players, many of which have patiently had to wait years for ranks to become available again whilst watching those who happened to be around before them make use of extreme advantages.

The only thing you're right about in terms of it being above our pay grade is the fact that we aren't paid at all. There might not have been a CV still around if a number of players had not all contributed to help keep the bills covered 5 / 7 years ago, but neither would there still be a CV around now if it weren't for the support of our patrons and the massive amount of time, expertise, and labour donated by our staff members to keep things fixed, up to date, and running. It's really cool that CV meant enough to you and that you were in a position to be able to pay hundreds of dollars at the time, but you are far from alone there.

I'm not sure if you read through all the information provided, but we have not actively removed any perks. We have replaced some pieces of ranks that were broken due to changes to the game itself and necessary plugin updates, and updated others that were either made irrelevant to the game by vanilla updates, or had proven too overpowered in their current state.

Are you also writing angrily to Mojang about how much has been removed or added to Minecraft in the years since you purchased it? I spent literally thousands of dollars on World of Warcraft over the years that I played for. The game is completely different now, the end-game weapon I had on my main that took not only my subscription fees but many hours of raiding and working toward I can't even hold anymore due to changes in game mechanics. I've spent hundreds on other online games, as well, some of which aren't even hosted anymore and unplayable. 100% of them have been updated and changed considerably since I purchased them. I'm not complaining to any of them or asking money back though, because this is all to be expected of and / or absolutely necessary for online games.

If we had not put so much work into things over the last ~5 years since you've been gone you would not now have functioning ranks, period. (Ignoring the fact that there would not be a CV at all to come back to.) If it is to be compared to buying a shirt, then the situation is not that you were given the wrong product. The situation is that you wore the shirt for 7 years and are now upset that the many holes, tears, and threadbare nature that accumulated with use were patched up and refitted for you repeatedly in that time for free, and you don't like the fact that it doesn't look exactly like the day you purchased it. Again, I understand your frustration, but your anger and blame is horribly misplaced. Quite frankly, we did not sell you or anyone else the ranks. We have done our best to uphold things nevertheless.

Okay let's do a little calculation here. I am a professional programmer and I work for CV for free because I like the server and the community.

Now, let's assume I charge 200$ for a day of work (which is way less than I charge my actual customers). I spend at least one workday every month for programming, bugfixing and administration of the server (that does not include the rest of the work I do as an SA for this server like discussing things with the rest of the staff team, moderating, helping players, etc, just to make this clear). Plus for starting CV7 I had to take off from work for two weeks, and for CV6, when I did a complete overhaul of most plugins, was more than 4 weeks.

So let's see.

20 days + 10 days + 5 (years) times 12 days is a total of 90 days. That gets us to a total sum of 18,000$.

And as I said, this does not include the other work as an SA, neither does it include the countless hours that the other SAs and the rest of the awesome staff team have invested in this server.

So, don’t talk to me about rude. Lol. Xx ;) Reach out to me next time you spend $18,000+ on this server, k?

P.S.: This is solely my personal opinion, it's not an official statement by the CV staff team.
