Now that we're a few months into the new map (how time flies!) we've identified a few items missing from the farmlands that might make peoples lives a little easier. Below is a list of the changes we've made to farmlands, effective today.
➳ Under the Sea!
We've added sea pickles to the coral farm, lighting up the murky depths below and they are farmable! We've also added some kelp which is also farmable, and made it possible to harvest the seagrass if you really want that as well. Overall there is just more stuff to grab in the coral farm.
➳ Mushroom Kingdom!
If there's one thing that the introduction of daily quests highlighted, it is how tricky it can be to find giant mushrooms in the wild. In order to help alleviate that problem, the mushrooms in the dark oak farm are now harvestable.
➳ Shulker Spots
We have listened to your feedback that the shulker spot at the farmlands spawn is not easy to find, and so we have replaced it with two new shulker spots inside the farmlands spawn build itself. You can't miss them as there is one at each exit! Longer term the plan is to allow shulker placing and breaking throughout the farms so you don't need to go back to spawn to pack up your shulkers, but this will take a little more work to setup. We will update you when this changes.
UPDATE: It changed. Now you can place shulkers in all the farms as soon as you get away from the spawnpoint a little bit. Please keep in mind that all shulkers will be automatically removed at 6 am eastern time when the server restarts and the farmlands are regenerated.
➳ Tasty Brown Stuff
The jungle farm is now a little more realistic; you can find cocoa beans on the trees that you can harvest. Chocolatey goodness for all!
➳ Nifty New Nether
One thing we didn't anticipate happening quite so quickly; we've completely wrecked the poor nether. The unique trees are gone, the glowstone is plundered and the ancient debris mining levels are a wasteland. So we have added a brand new nether world to the farmlands! It is a normal nether world, with a size of 10,000 x 10,000 blocks. You can head on over there and go mining for ancient debris, exploring for bastion treasures and harvesting warped and crimson trees. Please note that when this world starts getting depleted we will be resetting it so do not build anything there you want to keep! The normal nether world will be the place for long term building.
We will be keeping an eye on it to make sure people are not abusing it for PvP, but for now we have enabled the much requested feature of bed explosions in the new nether farm; sleep your way to netherite riches! Otherwise all rules in the nether farm are the same as in the standard nether; no PvP and no traps.
