:cactus: The Wilds: CV Hard Mode :cactus:

The Wilds is CV's new map for the more masochistic amongst us. The difficulty of this map has been set to hard. The world is completely separate from our regular survival map - you will not be able to move items between them. There are no cubes, and no ranks. Unlike Minecraft's hardcore mode, players will be able to respawn - there is no '1 life only' restriction. However, we have more ways to bring the pain and let chaos reign.

Launching 1st of September, 2023

Image

💀 Difficulty: Hard

Hostile mobs deal approximately 1 1⁄2 times more damage than on Normal difficulty.
Starvation is deadly.
Zombies can break through wooden doors and spawn reinforcements when attacked.
Spiders can spawn with an infinite duration beneficial status effect. (Speed, strength, regeneration, or invisibility)
Villagers killed by zombies always turn into zombie villagers.
Pillagers spawn near the player.

💀 Allowed:

Players are allowed to grief to their blackened heart's content.
Players are allowed to steal.
Players are allowed to scheme and scam, trust should not be given lightly.
Players are allowed to PvP.
Players are allowed to build traps.
Explosion damage, mob-griefing, and fire spread are on.
We will not be accepting modreqs for any of these items.

💀 Rules:

Chat rules still apply. (This includes all language, advertising, spam, and channel rules)
No hacking.
No exploits.
Do as staff say.
Respect our staff.
No staff impersonation.
Do not build offensive or vulgar symbols.
Do not create excessive lag.

Image

💀 Protections: None

No WorldGuard regions to claim.
No LWC protections for doors, chests, etc.

💀 Teleportation: Delayed

Using /spawn, /hub, or /home initiates a 10 second timer, after which teleportation will occur. This allows use of these transportation shortcuts without providing a cheap way to escape pursuit or death.
If you move or take damage after starting a teleportation timer, the teleportation will be canceled and you will need to begin again.
If you have been engaged in PvP and log out, a copy of your character will remain in-game for 10 seconds before disappearing. If the copy takes damage, the 10 second timer is reset. This copy will not fight back and can be killed, dropping your inventory for the taking. If you log back in within this time frame and you have not been killed, the copy will disappear and you will appear in its place at its location.

💀 Starting Out:

You will begin with a brief tutorial to introduce you to the rules and hazards of the world.
You will be given a handful of bread to start out with.
Upon completing the tutorial, you will be given a ride from Wild's Crossing that will throw you to a few random locations in the wild and set your home. This is a one-time-only service to help new players get away from the spawn area.

💀 Wild's Crossing Features:

Spawn - The town of Wild's Crossing serves as this maps Spawn.

Protected - Wild's Crossing has a region protection and PvP is off within the region.

Tutorial - Players start off and are given their introduction here.

Wild Teleport - The Wagon Driver NPC gives a one-time ride to the wild, he is located centrally in town.

Rules - Posted on a board prominently in town, along with warnings about the various world settings.

Trade Hall - The one safe place to trade, players will be able to see what they are trading for before accepting the trade offer. The Trade Master NPC will provide instructions.

Dueling Arena - Put your skills to the test, this mini-arena is for 1v1 duels. Players will not lose items or experience points when dueling in this spawn arena. The Duel Arbiter NPC can get you started.

End Teleport - To prevent End access being lost, an NPC at spawn brings players to The End after they've paid a fee to Oskar the End Expeditioner.

Daily Bread - You may collect 16 bread per IRL day from Jane the Innkeeper if you find yourself stuck and starving.

Wild's Crossing Bank - You may pay 1 diamond to access a safe box at the Wild's Crossing Bank. If you have a diamond stored in your safe box, this fee will automatically be deducted from your account. You will need to pay the fee every time you access your safe box. You cannot store anything and everything in this safe box, however it can hold up to:

⠀⠀⠀⠀ 24 Netherite
⠀⠀⠀⠀ 32 Diamonds
⠀⠀⠀⠀ 64 Iron
⠀⠀⠀⠀ 64 Emeralds

💀 Nether

Nether portals will be active.
A region in the Nether prevents portals opening into the Wild's Crossing protected region in the Overworld.
The Nether is on a 1 to 1 ratio with the Overworld. This allows us to utilise a much larger Nether than we would otherwise be able to have, preventing portals sending you past the world border.

💀 The End

To prevent entry to The End being fully monopolized or lost entirely, access may be purchased from Oskar the End Expeditioner NPC in Wild's Crossing.
The price to gain admittance to The End portal is 9 eyes of ender. This is a one-time fee.
Once the access fee has been paid, you will have free use of the portal from there on out.

Get Ready.

Ooooo this sounds amazing! A perm rift it seems. I can't wait to experience this, I feel like keepsake has made me grow soft over the months, lol.

I have three questions,
1. When we die, will we respawn at our bed and or our respawn anchors? Will there be a cooldown after we die?
2. Will there still be a /home 2 like how /home 2 still worked during the rift today?
3. How big is this new hard world going to be?

WOW I did not expect this! :O
Cubeville has been going crazy with big updates the past few months!

This sounds really interesting!

I have one suggestion: I think players should be able to purchase wood and/or saplings at spawn, so that way it does not become very hard for new players to craft anything. Maybe put that on a daily timer just like the bread, so if all the trees get destroyed, there won't be a monopoly on wood.

EDIT: turns out the world is big enough that wood is not a problem at all. There's still plenty of trees that no one has destroyed. You can disregard my suggestion

1) You will respawn at your set spawn point, which will be a bed or respawn anchor, or world spawn if you haven't set either. When you die there will be a 5 min cooldown on use of the /home command.

2) No - ranks will not apply to The Wilds so all players will be on a level playing field.

3) 12,000 x 12,000 at the moment.

Out of curiosity, will the be a player count to show how many people are in the wilds map at any given time?

How will the /home work? will we be able to set it at a place of our choosing, like we do on the main map? If so, will it be moveable?

There isn't at the moment, but could be something to consider in the future if it would be useful.
