CV8 Announcement

A Halloween Surprise?!

We're excited to share that after much anticipation, CV8 will officially launch on Sunday 20th October 2024. The end of map Rift will kick off on Saturday 19th October 2024. We'll provide further details as we get closer to the date.

CV8 will run on Minecraft Java version 1.21.1 and introduce a completely new survival world, featuring fresh server builds and brand-new terrain ready to be explored and shaped. To ensure everyone has plenty of room to grow, the starting map size will be increased to 15,000 x 15,000 blocks, significantly larger than previous maps. We're eager to see how you use this extra space!

We will also be venturing into a brand new creative map, with a fresh start for all, though you'll be able to recover your old plots if you aren't finished working on them yet.

We understand that transitioning from CV7 may be tough for some, especially with all the incredible builds that have been created. If you're in the middle of a project, we hope the next two weeks provide enough time to wrap things up, say your goodbyes to your current bases, and get excited for what's to come! And don't forget, you'll be able to visit your builds again from the Sightseeing hub after the map ends, so nothing is lost forever.

More information will be shared in the lead-up to the launch, including details about new features and changes. For now, here's an overview of what to expect with the map transition.

How does the map transfer work?

Once rift is over, there will be a few hours downtime while we change over to the CV8 setup, and then the new map will opened up. Everyone will join in the expanded tutorial as fresh players with no items, and will travel either the survival, creative, or minigame tutorial path to join and start playing. At this point, you'll be free to go into the brand new wild and start exploring and building! We will be doing our best to make sure this is a seamless process and that everyone can join and experience the new map together.

_____________________________________________________________________

What is Rift?

Rift is a long-standing Cubeville tradition, where we strip back many of our plugins and let everyone embrace a bit of chaos. During Rift, all builds can be destroyed, flooded, burned, or blown up, and PVP is enabled, turning the entire Cubeville world into a massive PVP arena. Many rules are relaxed during this event, but make sure to check which rules still apply to keep things fun and fair.

If Rift isn't your style, you can still enjoy playing on the creative server or dive into some minigames in the Skylands. Just because the survival world is in chaos doesn't mean you can't keep building peacefully on your creative plot!
The Rules of Rift
  • Hacks will not be allowed until the final few hours of Rift.
  • No attempting to hack into the server itself or any staff accounts. Any attempt to jeopardize the security of the server will result in a permanent ban.
  • No swearing. This chat rule still applies.
  • Be respectful and considerate of others. Keep Rift fun for everyone. Do not hold grudges, do not be overly aggressive to others trying to enjoy Rift. Do not pressure people into joining Rift if they do not wish to.
  • Do not dump lava at the /spawn point. It keeps people from being able to access CVC quickly and is not fun.
  • What happens in Rift stays in Rift. When Rift is closed and we move on to the new map; do not hold grudges, do not bicker in chat, do not continue feuds.
  • All player ranks will be disabled during rift, ensuring a level playing field for everyone.

Does anything carry over to the new map?

The only thing that is carried between maps are ranks. If you have earned any ranks during this map they will be carried over to CV8. All cubes, builds and items will be completely reset.

_____________________________________________________________________

Don't worry!

°. This is not the end- The builds from this map aren't gone forever! The CV7 survival world will be available to visit on Cubeville still, as one of the past maps you can access via the Sightseeing Portal. You'll also get a world download at a later date; you can then load it up in singleplayer and visit anything you want, even continue playing.

°. It'll be fun!- New maps can be scary but they're a lot of fun too! With no shops or bases full of items, people will actually have to go search for supplies and "work for a living".

°. Level playing field - Everyone will start fresh including the economy, no one brings anything, there's no shops yet, and no money. There'll be no rich people for a while.

°. Improve and expand- It's a chance to try new things and start over, you can take what you learned from this map and make it even BETTER on the next! Make a 2.0 of your base, make a more impressive house with new blocks etc.

°. Exploring new updates! We'll be updating from 1.20 to 1.21 as part of the new map process. If you aren't up to date with what changes to expect, here is an article detailing the 1.21 update: 1.21 update wiki article.

Dear Mr. Wally,

I hope you're doing well. My primary focus has always been working towards achieving all the ranks, and with the upcoming switch to CV8 on October 20th, I have two quick questions. I know you mentioned that more information will be provided as we get closer to the launch date, but I wanted to ask now, either to potentially get answers now, or to highlight a potential issue for players like myself that might need addressing in the further details later.

1. Will rank purchases be available immediately once we transition to CV8?

2. Will quests be accessible from day one?

Thank you for the information so far.

I like the idea of an increased map size. It will take a little longer for all the interesting things on the map to be raided.

A alternative I like better would be to make another would that is regularly reset to a new seed. This would make it so the main world could be smaller and players would have fresh terrain (land) to explore every once in a while. Please and thank you.

1. Ranks will be available for purchase immediately on CV8, yes, the same as they are now. Although of course you'll need to start saving your cubes up from scratch (hopefully that will be easier with some new economy systems being added!).

2. Daily Quests will be accessible from day one. If you mean the rank quests, they will be our next focus once the CV8 work is finished, but won't be available from day one, no.

AHH! I'm SO excited for CV8! I might join the rift. But if I may, I have a few questions to ask:
1. Will hack rules be disabled?
2. Which rules will remain on?
