Question about XP Farms

I was considering making one for a village some friends and I are making. I was wondering if there were some specific requirements or something.
(I was going to make a zombie grinder)

Do you have a zombie spawner in the area? I can run you out to my base and show you how I did mine.

I don't have a zombie spawner but I'm planning on getting one. I'd like to see your spawner.
