I can't speak to whether or not it will be changed, but the reason it was disabled was for privacy and safety reasons. Since you are able to stream desktops as well as applications, one could accidentally share private info or info that could be used to dox someone. It is also very hard to moderate what things would be streamed and the level of family friendliness.
