CU Meeting Notes: Reduced Elytra Prices/Memes Channel

Hello everybody! :) Here are the topics from the CV Citizen’s Union meeting from 29 August that we determined should be brought to the forums wishlist:

1. Reduced Price of Elytras - a reduction of price in full elytras was proposed by WeatherCats, and generally well received- the main arguments in favor were that while a permanent item such as Shopkeeper (SK) was 1000c, full elytras are currently 1250c despite potentially being lost upon death. Also, it was pointed out that based on the fly time vs. price of expendable elytras, full elytras require over 5 hours of active flight time before they pay for themselves. Balancing this with the argument that full elytras are a luxury item and therefore shouldn’t be too cheap, a broad range of 500-1000c was suggested. Most players seemed to lean towards the 700-800c area as fair for a full elytra in this current economy.

2. Discord Memes Channel - Chaozilla pointed out that as of late, meme posts have been dominating #kitchen-sink, sometimes drowning out other conversations. He proposed that a separate #memes channel be made on the CV Discord, separating meme posts from more general kitchen sink conversations and also possibly encouraging the creation of CV-specific memes with its existence. This proposition was agreed on pretty much unanimously.

So there we go, and we look forward to hearing feedback on these topics! Tyvm in advance :D

I think this is a great idea for both of them.
The elytras should be cheaper in my opinion in the 500-800 bracket, because shopkeeper, that's for the entirety of your time on cv, but an elytra is more expensive and probably won't even last you a whole cv map.

Also, I think a meme channel would be better for both groups.
For the main kitchen sink users who don't want it cluttered, this is very beneficial - and for the meme and gif lovers + creators, they have a place where people can go to specifically look at their stuff.

I realllly like this idea, I haven't even been able to keep 1 elytra for a year. I might have had 10 elytras so far... but anyway, yes I love this idea!

Thank you for the suggestions. Updates are as follows:

Reduced Price of Elytras - After much discussion at the SA level, we have decided to reduce the cost of a full elytra to 750c. We have also removed the curse of binding from the expendable elytra to make them a more user friendly alternative.

Discord Memes Channel - After much less discussion at the SA level, we agreed with the idea and have created a memes channel on discord.

I think it'll be like you can take it off but you can't add enchantments to it, like mending, so it's still gonna break.
