Rewards for Bug Reports
I have a suggestion, if someone were to find a useful bug they would be more likely to use it in private than to report it and get nothing. What if
had a reward system for reporting bugs. Minor bug, 5c reward. An example of a minor bug would be a misplaced barrier block in the skylands that would allow the player to get out of the map. A slightly more major bug, 15c reward. An example of a slightly more major bug would be a LWC bug. A major bug, 150c reward. An example of a major bug would be someone being able to get a barrier block in SW by being able to access the items in the modreqstatus GUI. A very major bug, 500-1000c reward. An example of a very major bug would be an infinite cube glitch or a server crashing exploit. I found a way to turn an expendable elytra into a normal elytra, I reported it and I got a threat saying if I did it again I would get banned. I could have gotten a 100c elytra but instead I got nothing :/

i had axolotl bucket that made infinite axolotl and had to throw away
no new axolotl buckets
no new axolotl buckets
Re: Rewards for Bug Reports
are we able to get a reply on this or something? it's been 9 months since this post was made, and is still much needed as ever to be added. many games already do this ("bug bounties"), and getting either nothing except for a threat to be banned or losing something doesn't motivate anybody to make bug reports whatsoever

As this isn’t something I’d have a final say on, I won’t comment directly, but that being said, a related story to share.
I think most people around the server know that I work in childcare, primarily in a class of 3 1/2 to 5 year olds. Those children understand the importance of keeping our classroom safe and taken care of, as that benefits everyone in the class. They do not expect a reward for putting toys away after using them, and are quick to let me know when there’s something broken or unsafe that could hurt others. If a room full of preschoolers can understand that doing the right thing is good for the overall classroom, certainly those old enough to be playing on a server should also be capable of helping keep the server a place for all?

i see your point, but imo preschoolers and the players on a minecraft server are really different, preschoolers are still learning how to act and have people watching them all the time, on a server, people can be any age, and there’s not as much control, i dont think it makes as much sense to expect them to act the same way when the situations are so differentLissaLaine wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 4:48 am As this isn’t something I’d have a final say on, I won’t comment directly, but that being said, a related story to share.

Re: Rewards for Bug Reports
Excellent analogy LissaLaine, but now, one from me. If a toddler walked up to you with a broken toy that could potentially hurt fellow toddlers, how would you react? You would respond by disposing of the potential hazard, and go on with your day. Now, I know people on a Minecraft server and toddlers are different, but the core is still there. If RacingBeam6502 so wished, he could completely destroy the elytra economy, causing widespread issues, as shopkeepers found themselves swamped in elytras they bought for 70c, when this scenario would decrease their value to ~30c. RacingBeam6502 did NOT do this, but rather did the responsible thing of alerting a staff member of the exploit. However, unlike a hypothetical situation involving the broken toy, he was threatened, with a stern warning not to do it again. He did the responsible thing and was punished. This is clearly not ideal. He chose to save the economy from a potential bloodbath (GD REFERENCE!?), and you picked that up as irresponsible? Clearly something must be amended here.

Re: Rewards for Bug Reports
If the toy in question was broken because a child intentionally snapped it in half, the child would be taking a break from playing with those toys.
As I said with my other post however, this idea of prizes would not be something I’d have a final say on. So I feel that I’m otherwise done with the conversation here. As one of many volunteer staff here, working hard in my free time to keep the server going, I would hope that players do the right thing because they want to keep having a server to play on.

RacingBeam6502 finding this exploit is closer to finding an already broken toy, seeing as he found it, rather than creating it. He found a spot where the system was already broken, and was treated like he had caused the bug.
At the very least, if RacingBeam6502 was benevolent in reporting this bug, then why would staff come on as offensive and threatening? You would not threaten a child for putting toys away, would you? Quite honestly and truthfully, this server's rulings feel upside down at times.
