Subzones in Creative

Subzones and Plot Name Changes in Creative

As the creative world on Cubeville has continued to develop and grow, with nubs using it for all kinds of things we hadn't planned for originally (including whole cities being built there!), it seemed like it was time to start adding some more tools to help manage plots. As such, we have now set up a system that lets players subzone their creative plot, allowing players to be added to build in specific parts of a plot, without full access to everything. This is useful if you want to give away specific house plots, or you want to invite someone to help collaborate on a build without giving them access to your secret underground base, or many other reasons you may want to give build permissions to a section of your plot.

As part of this update, all creative world plot names will now update whenever you log in to CV with a new username. This should make it easier when applying flags or adding members to your plot, since the region name will always be your current username, and not the name you had when you originally got your plot.

When dealing with very troublesome nubs, small subzones would help minimise the damage...

How do we create subzones?

Subzones are pretty easy to create, just follow these simple steps:
  • Select two opposite corners of the subzone you want to make. You can either use //pos1 and //pos2 (one in each corner), or use //wand to get a wooden axe, and then right click and left click blocks in each corner. Everything within the two corners you select will form part of the subzone.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
  • Once you are happy with your selection, enter the command /subzone [your_name] [subzone_name]. So, when making the subzone pictured above, I entered the command /subzone WallyDonkey nubzone, which created the region called nubzone within my creative plot.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
  • You can then use /rg addmember [subzone_name] [player_name] to add someone to the subzone you've made, and [/b]/rg removemember [subzone_name] [player_name][/b] if you later need to remove them.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
  • You're all done! You can add flags to subzones in the same way you do your main plot, so you can add greeting/farewells to specific areas of your plot, have parts of your plot where it rains, or is night etc.

As an example, to create a subzone that covers this box, the red and blue blocks mark the two corners that would be your pos1 and pos2.

Plot/Subzone Ownership

It is important to note that, whilst you may be added to subzones for you to use, the whole plot is still owned by one person, and you can be removed from subzones at anytime. Full plot clear requests from the plot owner will also clear everything in the entire plot, including any subzones.
