The CU Committee's Most Critical Election
In less than 12 hours, nominations close in the most critical committee election in the Citizens Union's history. And then the voting phase will supposedly start, deciding not only who gets to sit in the committee, but, for the first time, also who is eligible for a cabinet position.
In less than 12 hours, the candidates for this critical election will supposedly become known, but what comes next is uncertain. Only one thing is certain: that this election will be like no other. As I type this out now, nobody has the two nominations required for a candidate.
In less than 12 hours — and 12 hours is very little time, as you know, especially for such a critical election — we'll know a bit of what will happen to the future of the Citizens Union, which is impossible to accurately predict. For now, we can only speculate, for this is such an unusual election.
An uncertain election
In less than 12 hours, the candidates for this critical election will supposedly become known, but even that is being put into question. The election officer has already extended the nomination deadline by a week — it was supposed to end last week — but even now, nobody has two nominations.
In less than 12 hours, it is indeed very much possible that the election officer will announce yet another extension, but after we have seen the futility of the last extension, perhaps that's not a great choice after all. It seems people are losing interest in the Citizens Union, but that's for you to decide.
Live updates
In less than 24 hours, the most crucial stage of the Citizens Union's most critical committee election should conclude and what's clear is that this election will likely not continue as planned, but how it will deviate from the plans isn't clear. I will bring you new updates every few hours. (2021.09.17, 7:44 PM EDT)
NEW UPDATE It's now past ten o'clock in most of the United States, which means that a great many of us are asleep. There will likely be no more nominations submitted between now and 1:00 PM EDT, and as of right now, nobody has the two nominations required to be a candidate. (2021.09.17, 11:42 PM EDT)
