Helper: A New Cubeville Role We are pleased to announce that, as of this moment, there is now a brand new role on Cubeville - Helper. The ranks and roles on Cubeville have been fixed for so long that we decided it was time to review them to ensure they are still fit for purpose. We came to the conclusion that we wanted to add in a new role that recognises those players who go above and beyond in helping others out, as well as to give them some additional tools to enable them to keep doing that with even more effectiveness.
This role sits outside of, but works alongside, the staff team in helping to ensure that Cubeville remains a welcoming and safe place for all players. Helpers are active players who want to help others, and are passionate about building the Cubeville community. They will be identified in-game and on discord as a key member of the community to assist players with their questions and problems. Helpers are not responsible for any moderation activity, their role will be to answer questions and be a friendly, welcoming face on the server.
➳ How do you become a Helper?
There is no application process to become a Helper. Instead, the current Staff team contribute nominations for consideration by the SA team, who will then send out offer letters to those we feel would be well suited to the Helper role. That part of the process is entirely confidential, and if someone declines the offer then they can go about their lives as if it never happened.

However, if that player accepts the offer letter, then the SA team will work with them and any other potential new Helpers to arrange a Helper Ceremony, which will be held in the Amphitheatre at CVC Downtown. Advance warning will be given to players so they can attend and support their fellow citizen(s) being recognised officially as Helpers (and to indulge in the free cake and fireworks!).
➳ What exactly do Helpers do?
The clue is kind of in the name here - Helpers help players. Whether that be through answering questions in global, giving new players a tour of the server, or just being a friendly presence in-game. The Helper role is designed to recognise what players are already doing, and bolster that with a few abilities.
Helpers will be marked in-game with a (H) suffix after their name, and will be given the Helper role on discord with the same colouration. They will have access to training and information from members of staff, and will have emergency mute/kick abilities in the event that there are no staff online and a situation is escalating. And, as a perk for the responsibility they are taking on, Helpers will be able to host various games in the Skylands like spleef, lavarun, block party etc.

➳ Is this a staff rank? If not will I become staff after being a Helper for a while?
The simple answer to both questions is no. Helper is not a staff rank, it is a role to recognise a Citizen who is going above and beyond in being helpful and friendly to other players, and has demonstrated a good knowledge of the game and server. Whilst they work alongside staff in some areas, they remain citizens.
As to whether Helpers will eventually become staff, it is possible that some Helpers will go on to be nominated for staff, but it is not a guarantee, and you should not expect to eventually become a Moderator just because you are offered Helper. There is some overlap in criteria, but there are additional expectations and requirements for becoming a staff member, and it is a job that isn't suited to everyone.
